2nd Annual Happy Music for Happy People Event a Success

Polka Lovers Club of Texas Museum, located at 275 W. Fairgrounds Rd., La Grange, Texas within the Czech Village, experienced a successful second annual “Happy Music for Happy People” Open House and Event. Over one hundred area residents and visitors from as far as Nebraska toured the museum The event was held in conjunction with the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center’s (TCHCC) Slavnost “May Fest” celebration which was also a big success.
The King and Queen of The Polka Lovers Klub of America Texas Division, C. W. “Chris” and Doris Benson were in attendance.

Fayetteville Baseball Headed to State

The Fayetteville baseball team is headed back to the state tournament after sweeping old rival D’Hanis in the 1A regional finals this week in Kenedy. The Lions (17-4) won Tuesday 5-2 and then Wednesday 9-8 to punch their ticket to the state semifinals next Wednesday at Dell Diamond. First Stop on Texas 4000 Bicycle Ride to Alaska

On the hottest day of the year so far, 25 University of Texas students arrived at the Red & White Inn in Fayetteville on the first stop of a 4,000-plus mile bike ride to Alaska. The group, which raises money for research and to spread cancer awareness, had previously reached out to Blackbird Lodging to facilitate a place where the team could eat and spend the night. Joan and Jerry Herring were happy to donate the evening, and as usual the community turned out to make the night memorable for the bicyclists.
The Texas 4000 Ozark Team gathered on Fayetteville’s courthouse lawn before getting back on their journey.

Flatonia Headed to Regional Finals

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team defeated the Johnson City Eagles 2-0 in a great high school pitchers’ duel Saturday. This victory claimed a Regional Semifinal championship for Flatonia.
Flatonia’s Titan Targac hurled an amazing game in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Johnson City in Austin, allowing just one hit and striking out 10. “We are extremely proud of our team and the way our players persevered in what was a great high school pitching duel,” Flatonia head coach Shawn Bruns said after the game. “Baseball is such a great sport and the playoffs are such an exciting time of the year.” Photo by Stephanie Steinhauser

Flatonia Bulldogs Rally Their Way to 4th Round of Playoffs

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team knocked out the Kenedy Lions to win the Regional Quarterfinals playoff round in a best of three series that was played at Wimberly High School last week. Flatonia clinched the series with a convincing 15-7 victory in game three on Saturday, May 18.
