Flatonia Bulldogs Rally Their Way to 4th Round of Playoffs
The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team knocked out the Kenedy Lions to win the Regional Quarterfinals playoff round in a best of three series that was played at Wimberly High School last week.
Flatonia clinched the series with a convincing 15-7 victory in game three on Saturday, May 18.
Titan Targac led the offensive attack with three hits and six RBI’s. One of his hits was a bases clearing triple.
Cale Janecka and Nathan Aguillon each had two hits & a total of three RBI’s combined. Beck Zimmerman added a RBI double.
RBI singles were each hit by Henri Vincik, Diego Ramirez, & Railey Nieto.
Blake Kessler got the start on the mound in game three. He pitched two and two thirds innings. Janecka earned the win on the mound by pitching a solid four and one third innings in relief.
A 6-4 win in game two of the series came earlier on Saturday afternoon.
Zimmerman pitched a great six and two thirds in relief of Janecka who pitched just one third of an inning in the first game of the doubleheader on Saturday.
Zimmerman only gave up three hits, one earned run, two walks, and had eight K’s.
Three hits from Janecka led the Dog offense in this one. Raymond Toro, Rambo Ramirez, Zimmerman, & Targac each had two hits apiece.
Rambo Ramirez picked up the game winning hit, which was a based clearing three RBI double in the sixth inning.
Flatonia lost to the Lions in game one 4-9 that was played on Friday night.
Targac took the loss on the hill in the first game of the series.
The Dogs only managed two hits in game one. Toro had a two RBI single, while Janecka had a RBI single.
The two wins on Saturday now advances the Bulldogs to the 4th round of the playoffs.
This Regional Semi-Final series will be played on a date and at a site yet TBD.
