Shelby Volunteer Fire Department’s 64th annual fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 at Harmonie Hall. BBQ Beef and Pork plates are available dine-in or to-go from 11 a.m. until sold out. BBQ by the pound will also be available. A free dance with Crossroads Band starts at 2 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Proceeds help the department purchase fire equipment and provide necessary training.

Beth Rushing is officially the City Secretary for the City of Fayetteville. City Council approved Kathy Valtasaros as a new board member of the Fayetteville Economic Development Corporation. Valtasaros is co-owner of the Wine Bar at the Grand Fayette Hotel.

Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) will open the 2022 season with the hilarious comedy, a play within a play, “The Play That Goes Wrong,” by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. “This production is one of our most ambitious yet,” said Melissa Weltner of her 10th directorial project. “It’s so full of gags and slapstick hilarity that everyone should probably see all three showings! You don’t want to miss something because you were laughing so much!”

We’re coming upon the time when a lot of deer will be having their fawns in Fayette County. But over-zealous animal lovers could do more harm than good trying to “save” what they think are abandoned fawns found on their property.

Neighbors Night Out The first Neighbors Night Out has been set for May 18 at Zilss Hall. It will begin at 6:30 p.m. and everyone is encouraged to attend. Bring a dish to share. Come visit with your neighbors and share fellowship. Neighbors Night Out will be scheduled every month, May through October.

A Memorial Day Ceremony will be held on Monday, May 30 at 9 a.m. at the Carmine City Park.

The newest window was installed at St. Paul Lutheran in Fayetteville and dedicated at Easter service.

Rheagan and Rilan Karisch along with their parents attended the 2022 JBBA Spring Fling Heifer Show in Crockett on Saturday, April 16. Rilan placed fifth with his beefmaster heifer Duchess, and Rheagan placed sixth with beefmaster heifer Grace and ninth with Belamee. Additionally, Rheagan was the Champion Intermediate Showman, adding another belt buckle to her collection.
