Chrism Mass Celebrated in Victoria

On Tuesday, April 12, the St. Rose School Eighth grade class attended the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral in Victoria. The Mass is threefold in purpose: first, to bless the three oils used in sacramental celebrations; second, for priests of the diocese to renew their ordination promises; and third, for the baptized community to pray for the Bishop and priests and participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass. Students from all the schools in the diocese attended, along with several lay people from various parishes in the diocese. It was very impressive to see all the priests process in together and then at one point join Bishop Cahill on the altar. The Chrism Mass is always the Tuesday of Holy Week. Pictured (front, from left) are Bishop Brendan Cahill, Keeley Warnken, Clara Magliolo, Jamison Bennett, Dakota Wick, Myrannda Slaton, Mikayla Stang, Phoenix Richter-Trejo, (middle row) Landry Zapalac, Reagan Dusek, Cheyenne Henneke, Grace Schramek, Johnathan Guerrero, Rev. Isaac Maunger, (back) Pastor Scott Hill, Principal Rosanne Gallia, and Msgr. Tim Kosler.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Posse Annual Rodeo was a great success. Every year proceeds go back to a family who has been affected by cancer from the Saturday night (Pink Night) gate proceeds. This year the FCSP donated $500 to Curtis, Ana, and Curtis Zwahr Jr. in memorial of the passing of Jessica, their wife and mother after her battle with cancer. FCSP will continue to pray for them as they work through the difficult times ahead of them.
