Chrism Mass Celebrated in Victoria
On Tuesday, April 12, the St. Rose School Eighth grade class attended the Chrism Mass at the Cathedral in Victoria. The Mass is threefold in purpose: first, to bless the three oils used in sacramental celebrations; second, for priests of the diocese to renew their ordination promises; and third, for the baptized community to pray for the Bishop and priests and participate in the celebration of the Holy Mass. Students from all the schools in the diocese attended, along with several lay people from various parishes in the diocese. It was very impressive to see all the priests process in together and then at one point join Bishop Cahill on the altar. The Chrism Mass is always the Tuesday of Holy Week.
