Shelby VFD Fundraiser Slated for May 29

Shelby Volunteer Fire Department’s 64th annual fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, May 29 at Harmonie Hall. BBQ Beef and Pork plates are available dine-in or to-go from 11 a.m. until sold out. BBQ by the pound will also be available. A free dance with Crossroads Band starts at 2 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Proceeds help the department purchase fire equipment and provide necessary training.

Round Top Warrenton VFD

Round Top Warrenton Volunteer Fire Department will be selling raffle tickets for their annual fundraiser. The drawing will be held June 9 - need not be present to win. Tickets may be purchased at Round Top Real Estate, Round Top Service Station, Round Top Mercantile, Round Top Farm & Ranch, PawPaw’s Cafe, Carmine State Bank, Round Top State Bank, Electric Motor Service in La Grange, or from any RTW VFD firefighter.

Fayetteville ArtWalk

Arts for Rural Texas and Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce will host the annual Fayetteville ArtWalk May 7 - 8 beginning at 12 p.m. each day. Enjoy an art fair on the town square featuring work from 60 different artists. Proceeds benefit projects and programs for children throughout Fayette County. Along with great art, guests can enjoy wine tastings, food, shopping and live music. The event will be held at Henkel Square Market.

Animal Shelter Fundraiser

Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter presents their annual fundraiser, “Deep in the Paws of Texas” Saturday, May 21 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Round Top Rifle Hall. The night will consist of a delicious meal, live auction and live music. Single seat tickets are $150, or a table of eight is $1,200. VIP tables are also available. Round Top Family Library

Round Top Family Library is open Monday-Friday from 1:30- 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Adult Yoga meets Mondays at 5 p.m.

Art After School meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-5 p.m.

Chess Club meets Wednesdays 3:40-4:45 p.m.

Junior Master Gardener meets Wednesdays 3:30-5 p.m. for grades 4-6.

RTFL is offering a Jelly Making Workshop Saturday, May 7 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. The library will provide supplies and each participant will take home a jar of homemade jelly, plus recipes and tips. $10 per person. Class size is limited to 10 people.

Author Audrey Wick will speak Thursday, May 19 beginning at 12 p.m. Wick will discuss the life of a working writer, as well as some of the hallmarks of contemporary writing. The Fayette County resident is a women’s fiction/romance novelist and teaches full-time at Blinn College. A Q&A will be held afterward and copies of her book will be available for sale. Round Top Rifle Hall

The Round Top Rifle Hall Monday Night Social is the first through third Monday of each month. The Hall opens at 5:30 p.m., and the order window is open from 6-8 p.m. All proceeds benefit the continued improvement of the RTRA.
