Rheagan and Rilan Karisch along with their parents attended the 2022 JBBA Spring Fling Heifer Show in Crockett on Saturday, April 16. Rilan placed fifth with his beefmaster heifer Duchess, and Rheagan placed sixth with beefmaster heifer Grace and ninth with Belamee. Additionally, Rheagan was the Champion Intermediate Showman, adding another belt buckle to her collection.

Ellinger Sewer and Water

The Ellinger Sewer and Water Supply will be holding its annual meeting on April 28 at 7 p.m. at the Ellinger Community Center Dining Hall. A meal will be provided beginning at 6 p.m. The Ellinger City Council will also be meeting at this time. Make plans to attend and get caught up on what is officially happening in the city of Ellinger.

SLM Confirmation Classes

Shared Lutheran Ministries confirmation classes will resume on Wednesday, April 20. The students meet in Rutersville from 5:30-6:45 p.m.

Fayetteville Brethren Church

Fayetteville Brethren Church has services the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of each month at 10 a.m. Other services are at Industry Brethren on the second, third and fourth Saturdays at 5 p.m., Wesley Brethren on Sundays at 9 a.m. and Nelsonville Brethren on Sundays at 10:15 a.m. Rev. Mike Groseclose leads all the services. The Nelsonville service is live streamed on Nelsonville Brethren’s Facebook page.

Ellinger VFD Feast

The Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting its annual feast and fundraiser on Sunday, April 24 at the Ellinger Community Center.

Firemen and community volunteers will be preparing a barbecue chicken and sausage lunch with all the trimmings. Plates to go will be $12 and serving in the drive-thru line will begin at 10:30 a.m. Serving in the hall will begin at 11 a.m. BBQ chicken to go will also be sold at the pits for $10 per chicken.

There will also be a live auction under the pavilion starting at 1:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase new firefighting equipment.

Ellinger Tomato Festival

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 85th Annual Tomato Festival, the last weekend in May. The fun gets underway on Friday, May 27, with the following competitions: a Chef’s Choice Entrée, desserts, chips and salsa, and margarita contests. Entertainment on Friday will be provided by the Ledershosen Junkies from 8-11 p.m. The BBQ cookoff is Saturday, May 28 competitors will cook brisket, chicken, pork spare ribs, pork butts, and pinto beans. There will also be a farmer’s breakfast and bloody Mary contest, and a chopped challenge.

Additionally there will be a live auction and drawing for the raffle winners. This year will also feature a Tomato Trot 5K fun run. Live music on Saturday will be provided by The Bandits. On Sunday locals will be cooking and serving fried chicken and sausage along with delicious sides. Serving gets underway at 10:30 a.m. and plates will be $12.

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce is also sponsoring a raffle. Tickets can be purchased from chamber members. All proceeds will go towards restoration of the hall, scholarships, and community improvements.

Ellinger Bingo

The Ellinger Chamber of Commerce hosted a record breaking crowd of over 300 Bingo players on Saturday, April 9. Congratulations to all of the winners, and a big thank you to everyone for making this event so much fun.

The next Bingo is scheduled for May 14.
