Hospital Update

The final bids are in on the Note Sale of the shuttered St. Mark’s Medical Center in La Grange. But we may not find out who the winning bidder of the hospital is for a couple of weeks. According to St. Mark’s Board Chair Dudley Piland, in “our weekly video conference with HUD they kicked off the meeting by announcing that they would not share any information on the potential sale of the SMMC note until after the September 11 required closing date.”

Lehmanns Continue Flag Tradition at Fairgrounds

New construction on Highway 77 did not slow down the Fair’s Patriotic committee honoring our Veterans, First Responders, Police and Firefighters. Erich, Daniel, Johann, and Caleb Lehmann have been setting up the Patriot Flags at the Fair for many years. Since TxDOT has been working on expanding highway 77, the committee had to relocate our Patriotic flag display this year.

New Exhibit Opens This Week at La Grange’s Texas Quilt Museum

The upcoming Fall/ Winter exhibits at the Texas Quilt Museum showcase two much-beloved traditional patterns and the work of a multi-talented artist who found a passion for Crazy Quilts. “Princess Feathers and Feathered Stars and Allison Aller: Contemporary Crazy Quilts” will open on August 29 and run through January 4, 2025.
“Oak Leaf” a Modified Princess Feather, circa 1910, by Catherine Ella Ernst Dreibelbis is part of a new exhibit opening this week at the Texas Quilt Museum in La Grange.
