To call it a contrast in styles would be an understatement. Friday’s season opener for the La Grange football team against Bellville will showcase two teams that go about the game completely differently.

After 18 consecutive road matches to start the season, the La Grange volleyball team finally played its home opener Tuesday. But the Lady Leps ran into a tough East Bernard team and after winning the first set 2514, lost the next three sets 1625, 14-25, and 11-25.

Schulenburg junior volleyball player Emmrie Marx has been a force on the offensive end for the Lady Horns. The outside hitter has displayed eagerness to get this team back to the state tournament, notching a team-high 146 kills for the season.

The Flatonia volleyball team defeated Smithville Tuesday 25-12, 26-24, 25-17 to improve to 8-5 overall. In JV Lady Bulldogs fell to the Smithville Tigers in 2 sets.

The La Grange volleyball team went 3-5 at the Bastrop Tournament last week as the Lady Leps moved their overall record to 7-11. The Lady Leps beat Iowa Colony, Austin Travis and Austin Eastside, sandwiched around losses to Bellville, Killeen Chaparral, Del Valle, Manor and Lockhart.
