Carmen Virginia (Brennan) Humphreys, 84, of Muldoon, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was the daughter of Manson Lee Brennan and Velma Frances Scott Brenhan born Oct. 12, 1939, at Florence Nightengale Hospital in Dallas.

Sheri Simmons Nolen, passed away on March 12, 2024, at the age of 55 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on Feb. 10, 1969, in Austin, Sheri’s infectious smile and warm heart touched many throughout her lifetime.

Funeral services for Frieda Wernecke, 90 of Giddings, were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner and Rev. Josh Hahn officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Herman Aschenbeck passed away on Tuesday morning, March 5, 2024, at the Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center in Schulenburg. He struggled with Alzheimer’s, which accelerated with brain injuries after a fall in November 2023. He is now with his heavenly Father.

James R. Johnson, affectionately known as James to his friends and loved ones, left this world on March 5, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on Aug. 2, 1943, in Pasadena, James lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his community, and a warm, infectious spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Donna Sue Phillips (Sump), 68, passed unexpectedly in her earthly home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 4, 2024. Donna was the youngest of three born to Ernest and Sue (La Sha) Sump on Feb.

John Curtis Genzer, a man remembered for his loving nature, friendly demeanor, and selfless acts, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2024, in his hometown of La Grange. Born on March 9, 1982, in the same close-knit community, John’s roots ran deep in the heart of Texas where he cultivated a life rich in family, work, and hobbies.

daughter, Pam and her two children, Dylan Fritts, Brooklyn Lewis and significant other Garrett Kallus and their daughter Tinlee; son, Daryl Shew, and his daughter Angela and her husband Scott Plattsmeir and their son Porter; daughter, Tammy Oliverez, and her husband Bo and their three sons Bryan, Brendon, and Blake; nephew Todd Trlicek, and wife Mekisha and his children Brandon, Taylor, Tiffani, and Gracie; Shannon Mabry Trlicek; nephew, John Christopher Skinner, and significant other Kathy D. Lynch; niece, Tracey Trlicek-Thompson and her two children Jordon and husband Anthony Ramirez and their daughter, Gabriella and J.P.

Services for Maurice Boettcher are set for 3 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange, with Rev. Larry Knobloch officiating. Interment will follow at Waldeck Cemetery in Ledbetter. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024, also at the funeral home.

Flora Bertha Jahnz, 102, of La Grange, died on March 3, 2024. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m.
