Velorie Fay Dippel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, at Grand Living at Riverstone in Sugar Land, at the age of 91.

Velorie was born on March 7, 1935, in Latium, Texas, to Walter and Meta (Noak) Kraemer. She was baptized by Pastor Kralik in Round Top. After the death of her father, Velorie moved with her mother and sister to the Round Top area to live with her uncle, Herman Noak and Aunt Erra Noak. She was confirmed by Pastor Weiss at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top and later graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School.

Following graduation, Velorie moved to Houston, where she worked for various companies as a switchboard operator and administrative clerk. She was known for her strong work ethic, dedication, and friendly nature.

One of the greatest blessings of Velorie’s life began when she met Kirby Dippel at the age of seven after starting school in Round Top. Their childhood friendship blossomed into a high school romance, and they were united in marriage on June 9, 1956. Earlier this year, they joyfully celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary surrounded by family. Together they built a loving home in Houston and raised their two daughters, Vanessa and Vincentia.

Velorie was exceptionally resourceful and creative. She enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, sewing, and other handicrafts. Her talents were evident in the many garments she lovingly created for her family, as well as the dance costumes and school drill team uniforms she made for her daughters. She also shared her mother’s love of flowers and gardening, finding great joy in cultivating beauty around her home.

Velorie and Kirby shared a lifelong love of dancing. They were avid dancers and attended countless dances throughout the Round Top area and Houston. They especially enjoyed waltzes and polkas, and dancing remained one of their favorite pastimes throughout their marriage. Their daughters fondly remember falling asleep on old quilts placed beneath the tables at the dance halls while Velorie and Kirby danced the night away. After Kirby retired, the couple joined friends in sponsoring private dances, continuing the joy and friendships they had built over the years. Vanessa often recalls wondering on Saturday nights, “Which dance hall are my parents dancing at tonight?”

Family was the center of Velorie’s life. She was deeply devoted to her family and to preserving the close bonds that connected generations. She and Kirby ensured that holidays, celebrations, and special occasions were always shared with their extended family. Growing up, daughters Vanessa and Vincentia never spent a holiday in Houston; instead, every holiday was spent in Round Top surrounded by family, traditions, laughter, and love. These gatherings created treasured memories and instilled in future generations the importance of family, faith, and togetherness.

Velorie is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Kirby Dippel; daughters, Vanessa Marshall and husband Bobby Marshall of Missouri City, and Vincentia Roberts and husband Charles Roberts of Houston; grandchildren, Robert Marshall and wife Stacey Marshall of Rosharon, and Kristin Godinez and husband Ulises Godinez of Benbrook; and her cherished great-granddaughter, Maeve Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Meta Kraemer; her sister, Waldine Cason; her brotherin- law, Lamar Cason; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Velorie’s life was a testament to faith, family, hard work, and love. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the traditions she preserved, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless lives she touched through her generosity and devotion. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A visitation for Velorie will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel-Carmine located at 107 Augsburg Avenue, Carmine. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026 at 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church located at 412 South White Street, Round Top. A private burial will follow with only family in attendance.
