Fair Parade Begins Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
The Fayette County Fair runs Thursday through Sunday this week, and one of the main attractions every year is the annual downtown parade.
This year's theme is “Roaring Twenties!”
This year’s parade is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4 at 10:30 a.m. All participants are reminded check in is at the City Hall. Participants may pick up their number for line up beginning at 7:30 a.m. Participants will be directed to their spot to line up at that time. This information will not be available ahead of time.
Trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the following categories: Best Out Of County, Best Fayette County, Best Junior, Most Comical, Best Business Or Commercial, Most Original, Best Fair’s Theme, Best Western Riders/ Wagon/ Float, Best Antique Car Or Truck, Best Classic Car, Best Classic Truck, Best Hot Rod, Best Antique Tractor, Best Atv/ Motorcycle And Best Car Club. There Will Also Be A Trophy For Best Overall Entry.
The parade route has changed a bit.
The parade will begin at the middle school on North Jackson St. and cross Business 71 (Travis St.), make a left on Colorado St. and head toward the downtown square and courthouse area, cross Hwy 77 (Jefferson St.), continuing straight on Colorado to city pool park.
Announcers will be set up at City Hall and on Main St. across from the courthouse to announce the entries and winners.
