Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Sept. 15 at approximately 5:34 p.m. a 911 call came in from a residence in the 6400 block of Hwy 159 in the Fayetteville area, regarding a male subject that was working on wiring in a home and had fallen off of a ladder onto concrete flooring and was unresponsive.

The Fayette County Firefighter’s Association reports the following calls for the week of Sept. 12-18: Grass Fires - 4 Medical - 8 Accidents - 4 Structure Fire - 1.

The H. J. Ehler American Legion Post 102 in La Grange recently elected Odis Pfeiffer as its Commander. Odis has heretofore served as the Post Commander from 2015 to 2019. The American Legion Post meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the Veterans Center (the former VFW hall) at the Fayette County fairgrounds. A light meal is served after each meeting. All veterans are invited and encouraged to join and participate in all Post meetings and functions.

The La Grange Roadrunners Square Dance Club has finally been able to get back to dancing each Tuesday night. The club was out of pocket for over sixteen months due to the health situation and hopes it can continue now without so many problems.

Second Chance Emporium recently donated to $2,000 The Bugle Boy Foundation. The grant money will be used to help facilitate a songwriting workshop led by Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines for special needs young adults in the “And Then” program and possibly some older Turtle Wing clients. The participants will write a song based on their individual interests, practice it at home, then perform their song with Terri and Lloyd on the Bugle Boy stage. The show will be webcast so even friends and family from afar will be able to enjoy the show. Farm Bureau The Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/Dubina Farm Bureau will not have their usual third Tuesday monthly meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 21.

The trial against Dylan David Nelson for the July 2017 murder of La Grange plumber Jeremy Cornwell began on Tuesday, Sept. 21. If convicted of first degree murder, Nelson faces five to 99 years or life in prison.
