Food Bank Truck The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the junction FM 1291 and FM 2145 on Friday, April 15 from 10 until 11 a.m. It will be drive-thru only and all clients are to remain in their vehicles.

Back Porch Barbecue in La Grange lost $5,500 in spoiled food and other damage after a man allegedly shut off their electricity overnight. The business discovered the loss after finding the man asleep on the front porch of the restaurant on Monday, April 11.

Two iconic Fayette County businesses are joining forces. The 115-year-old Farmers Lumber Company of La Grange is set to acquire northern Fayette County’s busiest general store, Round Top Mercantile.

More than half a million dollars was raised Saturday at a special gala honoring the first 50 years of Round Top’s Festival Hill and celebrating its future. Highlight’s from Monday’s monthly meeting of the La Grange school board: Giese Honor Linda Oltmann and Cliff Giese, daughter and son of the late H.C. Giese, each spoke to the board asking for them to recognize their father as the longest running principal in La Grange.

La Grange City Manager Shawn Raborn informed council members and city staff this week of his plans to retire in September after nearly three decades overseeing city operations. “We’re not going anywhere,” Raborn said of he and his wife, Ann.

Fayette County’s hazard mitigation plan expired in December. It could take a year for the County to update and renew the plan. That could put Fayette County in a pinch if a hurricane or some other disaster strikes the area before a new plan is in place.

A Schulenburg man was shot in the leg late Thursday night, April 7. Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said the shooting happened between 11:30 p.m.
