Schulenburg Man Shot
A Schulenburg man was shot in the leg late Thursday night, April 7.
Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek said the shooting happened between 11:30 p.m. and midnight in the 100 block of North Main St. in Schulenburg, near the BWI warehouse. The victim was Karl Jarmon Jr., 28 of Schulenburg.
Brenek said an officer on patrol heard the gunshots and responded immediately. Police also received a call reporting the gunshots, he said. Fayette County EMS responded as well.
Officers and EMS found Jarmon lying on the ground. Brenek said Jarmon was wounded once with a 9mm bullet that passed through his leg. EMS transported him to St. Mark’s Hospital in La Grange, where he was treated and released. Brenek said Jarmon claimed that someone in a mask ran up to him and shot him, and that two or three people ran away. Brenek said Jarmon claimed he didn’t know the gunman or why he was attacked.
“We don’t believe the story that he gave,” Brenek said.
Brenek said investigators have reason to believe the attack involved some kind of dispute. He asked anyone with information about the shooting to report it to Schulenburg Police by calling (979) 743-2677. Furthermore, he said Fayette County Crimestoppers will offer reward money for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
