Deputy Michalec Apprehends Subject After Brief Foot Chase

On Tuesday, April 5 at approximately 10:46 p.m. Deputy Jared Michalec conducted a traffic stop on a 2018 gray Toyota Camry for a traffic violation on Hwy. 71 West near Makinson Rd.

The vehicle initially stopped but as Michalec approached the vehicle, the vehicle took off and a pursuit ensued. After a very brief pursuit, the vehicle crashed into the ditch and the driver fled on foot. Michalec was able to apprehend the subject a short distance from the vehicle. Inside the vehicle, Deputy Michalec located approximately 13.6 pounds of marijuana and five pounds of cocaine.

The driver, identified as 36-year-old Jose Guerrero of Houston, was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest/ Detention with a Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
