For this type of celebration a simple ribbon cutting would not do. To celebrate the merger of Farmers Lumber Company and Round Top Mercantile Wednesday, they used a circular saw to cut a ceremonial board that had been signed by lots of the folks involved in the deal.

MS-150 Bike Ride Enters Fayette County April 30

The MS150 charity bike ride will enter Fayette County on April 30 at approximately 12 noon. The race will enter from the west on FM 153 in Winchester and from the east on FM 159 in the Willow Springs Area. The western path of the race will enter the county on FM 153 from Buescher State Park and continue to SH 77. The eastern path of the race will follow the same route it always has in the past; both routes will end at the Fayette County Fairgrounds for the overnight stay. It is anticipated that all riders will be off the road no later than 6 p.m.

La Grange PD Wants Your Feedback

The La Grange Police Department has created a Community Policing Plan to direct its priorities and resources for the next five years and is seeking the public’s input to guide its development. The City of La Grange has contracted with Texas A&M’s Target Communities program to create the plan as well as develop a local taskforce comprised of leaders in the community along with officers to facilitate discussions on identifying existing conditions, key issues, and values of the police department. Since January of this year, the taskforce has been exploring best practices and strategies to help develop the content of the plan.

Habitat Gets Help From La Grange 4-H

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity received some wonderful help from the La Grange 4-H Club over Easter weekend. The group helped clean, organize, and price items for the new resale shop in Schulenburg.
