La Grange Chamber Requests City Funding

The La Grange Chamber of Commerce asked the City of La Grange to resume financial assistance to the Chamber after a 10-year break. Jamie Fabre, the Chamber’s operations director, made the request at the City Council meeting Monday night, June 13.

The newly-elected and re-elected La Grange City Council members took their oaths of office on Monday, June 13. Pictured (from left) are Councilmember Ward 2 Violet Zbranek, Councilmember Ward 1 Kathy Weishuhn, newly-elected Councilmember Ward 4 Arthur Bosque, Councilmember Ward 3 Dustin Littrell and Councilmember Ward 4 Quenten Gonzalez. Also on Monday night, the Council voted unanimously to appoint Weishuhn as the new mayor pro tem. She takes the place of John “Honza” Cernosek as mayor pro tem. Mailboxes Damaged in Muldoon, Fourth of July Celebration Set July 2

There have been several mailboxes in the Muldoon area that have been vandalized. One box was knocked off its stand while the other box was totally knocked out of the ground and was stolen. These are federal offenses and are not just “pranks.” Any information on mailboxes being vandalized should be reported to the sheriff’s office. If you see any strange vehicles around the area please take note of the make, model, color, license plate information and description of occupants. Turn all this information over to the sheriff’s office. We all have to watch out for each other.

Individuals Evade County Deputies

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that on Wednesday, June 8 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a Ford Explorer for a traffic violation on IH-10 at the 667 east bound mile marker.

League of Women Voters Hold First Adopt-a-Highway Clean Up June 13

The League of Women Voters of South Central Texas recently joined the network of 3,400 groups participating in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Adopt-a-Highway Program. As a participant, the League has agreed to hold four cleanups a year for a minimum of two years on a two-mile stretch of Hwy. 90 in Fayette County.
