The Fayette County Fair Association is proud to dedicate this fair to Calvin Kuehn who had been a member for over 57 years. Calvin followed the footsteps of his father Joe Kuehn. Volunteering through the years, Calvin was a role model to the young people who worked for him in the parking lot. He worked and saw many improvements done to the fair grounds. His “Green Thumb” is seen on the buildings, and it stands for hard work, dedication, and a vision into what the fair grounds would become. He was very involved in the growth and dreams of the fair which is voted the Favorite 4-Day Event in Fayette County.

Calvin was a friend to everyone, an offered all of himself to family, friends, and his community. He was active in the VFW, American Legion, La Grange Fire Department, La Grange City Council, Hermann Sons, Fayette County Fair Association, and church. He was well known, friendly, respected, sincere, observant, caring, generous, well mannered, gifted with knowledge and wisdom, and offered his service to everyone. He as dedicated and passionate wherever he served, which reflected of his love and caring for his community and others.

He spent many hours in the office answering the phone, greeting visitors, answering questions, and making everyone feel welcome, when they entered the fair office. The Fair Association honored Calvin as a Lifetime Honorary Member, and as Parade Marshall in 1988. Calvin drove through the fair grounds frequently to make sure all was in order and reported issues to be addressed. He life a legacy for all members to treasure and share. Everyone knows that wherever Calvin Kuehn was seated “He Rocked.”
