New Bielau Dance Hall Reunion in the Works

For folks of a certain vintage who grew up around here, lots of weekends were spent at the old New Bielau Dance Hall south of Weimar.. The Hall burned to the ground in 1999, but the memories live on.

ARTS Accepting Entries for America the Beautiful National Art Competition

In honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary, Arts for Rural Texas presents America the Beautiful, a national art competition and gallery exhibition. The competition invites artists to reflect on the people, places, history, and ideals that have shaped our nation, and seeks work that celebrates the diversity, complexity, and evolving story of the American experience—from its founding to the present day.

ArtWalk Welcomes Record Number of Artists This Year

ArtWalk returns to Fayetteville’s town square this May with more artists than ever before. This year, the festival welcomes 67 artists of all media, including painting, drawing, ceramics, jewelry, fiber, mixed media, sculpture, and more. Some of the artists participating in ArtWalk include Gerald Tobola, Jeremy Serna, and Alton Janelle.

Animal Shelter Update

The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal shelter is open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday for all normal operations. The shelter is closed to the public with staff onsite for animal care from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Mondays. The shelter allows reclaims on Monday after 10 a.m. by appointment. If you believe your lost pet may be in care, call (979) 9660021 to confirm and learn requirements for reclaim.
