Andy Behlen Named Reporter of the Year by TGCPA & Photographer of the Year in South Texas The Fayette County Record hauled home a bunch of awards from newspaper contests held at the 100th annual South Texas Press Association (STPA) and the 88th annual Texas Gulf Coast Press Association (TGCPA) conventions last week in Port Lavaca. The Record won the sweepstakes award from The Gulf Coast Press Association in the large circulation category, placing higher in more categories than any other newspaper.

Lady Leps Earn Loads of District Honors

After finishing its 2026 District 24-4A season with an impressive 13-3 record and a run into the Area Round of the state playoffs, the La Grange Lady Leps Varsity Soccer team’s hard work has been recognized with the following individual accolades:

Relay for Life Relay For Life of Fayette County will be held on April 18, at Leopard Stadium from 6 - 10 p.m. The Luminaria Ceremony will be at 8:30 p.m. This year’s theme is United Against Cancer. Of Kolaches & Co. Judge Candidates

The run-off race for Fayette County judge between Josh Vandever and Josh Homan has sort of taken a back seat to the more immediate $90 million LGISD Bond election. That’s understandable because the bond election day is May 2 and the county judge run-off election day is May 26.

LCRA Employees Do Local Community Service Projects

More than 750 Lower Colorado River Authority employees spread out across Texas to tackle more than 45 community improvement projects during LCRA’s annual Steps Forward Day. Now in its 11th year, the volunteer initiative brought teams to parks, trails and public spaces throughout the LCRA service area, painting fences, planting gardens, clearing brush and refreshing playgrounds. The day of service builds on LCRA’s long tradition of hands-on community engagement. Community projects completed on April 10 in our area included:
