Fayette Savings Donates to ACCSS Program

The Blinn College District and the Columbus, Fayetteville, Flatonia, Schulenburg, and Weimar ISD’s recently launched a partnership designed to increase high school dual credit completion and establish seamless pathways toward postsecondary awards and industry credentials.

Family Selection Process to Begin For New Habitat Home in La Grange

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity, an organization based on Christian principles, announces the beginning of their family selection process. A partner family will be selected for a new home that will be built in the Hope Hill subdivision in La Grange. To qualify for the purchase of a Fayette County Habitat home you must be a U.S. citizen; have lived in Fayette County, Texas for the last twelve months; have the ability to pay $1,500.00 down payment; have the ability to pay the no-interest mortgage on the house to be built; and your annual gross income must fall within the 30 to 60 percent limits of the HUD 2022 income guidelines for Fayette County based on your family size. You must also be in need of adequate housing, and be willing to partner by working at least 300 hours, attending education workshops, and more.

La Grange Could Get DPS Headquarters

County Judge Joe Weber said the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) wants to place a sergeant’s headquarters in Fayette County. “A couple of days ago DPS notified me and said they are interested, extremely interested, in putting a sergeant’s headquarters here in the County,” Weber said during a Commissioners Court last Thursday, Sept. 1. DPS Sgt. Jeremy Weiser told the Record this week that DPS leaders are planning for such a move, but no decision has been made yet.
