Burn Gets Out of Control in Ledbetter
Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department put out a small fire that got out of control Tuesday morning, Sept. 27. The call came in around 10:30 a.m. A property owner on FM 1291 in the Ledbetter area was burning a pile of old wooden fence posts. The fire spread to surrounding grass and brush. Ledbetter VFD responded with two grass trucks, a tanker, a tanker and five firefighters. They quickly put out the flames.
Buccaneer Band Experience Held at Blinn
More than 150 band students from area high schools had the opportunity to perform with the Blinn College Buccaneer Band during halftime of a recent football game at Cub Stadium. As part of the inaugural Buccaneer Band Experience, high school students took part in a day of activities that included joining the Blinn band for its halftime performance during the Blinn-Cisco football game.

Drug Take Back Program Nets 1,560 Pounds
In November 2017, a new county wide program was underway to take action to reduce prescription drug abuse by making it easier to properly dispose of unused medications. The La Grange Bluebonnet Lions Club, La Grange Police Department, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, City of La Grange, St. Mark’s Medical Center, and Second Chance Emporium partnered to take action to reduce prescription drug abuse by making it easier to properly dispose of unused medication.
County’s Coffers Up Half Million Due to Sales Tax Revenue Growth
With three-quarters of the year passed, business in Fayette County seems still to be booming. Retail sales tax collections are up 32.3% for the first nine months of the year, surpassing virtually every neighboring county. (Burleson County is up 37.0%, but is considerably smaller than Fayette.) And Schulenburg seems to be where that business is hottest.
