Halloween Laser Tag Returns to LG

Fayette County Habitat for Humanity will bring back it’s “Hab-O-Ween” Laser Tag for the second year in a row in La Grange from Oct. 27-30. The activity takes place from 5 to 9 p.m. each day at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. The Halloween-themed laser tag arena will be set up inside Country Store area of the Fair Event Center. Each round of laser tag costs $10 and lasts 15 minutes. Each round will include 10 players (player vs. player or two teams of five).

51st South Central Texas Cow-Calf Clinic Friday

Join us for the 51st Annual South Central Texas Cow-Calf Clinic and Trade Show on Friday, Oct. 28, at the Washington County Expo - Sales Facility in Brenham. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the program getting underway at 8 a.m. Early registration closes Wednesday, Oct. 25 and is $20 per person. Late registration will be $30 per person at the door. The registration fee provides admission to the clinic, an opportunity to visit with tradeshow vendors, refreshments, a catered bar-b-que lunch, the afternoon social, and a ticket to win the Grand Door Prize Heifer at the conclusion of the day. New for 2022, the first 75 completed preregistrations received will be entered to win a commemorative South Central Texas Cow-Calf Clinic Cooler (Must be present to win)! LG Man Freed After Hung Jury

Shawn Patrick Childers was released from the Washington County Jail last week after the prosecution declined to re-try him for the 2018 Burton Bank Robbery. The trial against Childers, 55 of La Grange, ended with a hung jury on Oct. 12. Seven of the 12 jurors voted to acquit. He had faced three counts of aggravated robbery, one for each of the three tellers whom the robber threatened with a gun.

The 10th Annual Monster Dash sponsored by the Turtle Wing Foundation took place at Jack and Mary’s in Schulenburg on Saturday, Oct. 22. The event was well attended and included music, games, performance by dancers from On Pointe Dance Studio, a Halloween costume contest (the winners are pictured below) and, of course, the Monster Dash foot race. Seized Money Returned From 2018 Arrest

The Fayette County Attorney’s Office returned $6,725 that was seized from a man during a 2018 arrest for misdemeanor possession of marijuana. Schulenburg Police arrested the defendant on July 31, 2018, for misdemeanor possession of between two and four ounces of marijuana.

Sheriff’s Office Warns Against Golf Cart Use at Antiques Fairs

The Round Top-Warrenton Antiques Fair is currently in full swing, and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office wished to remind the public of Texas laws regarding golf carts and UTV’s. Visitors to the Antiques Fair should be aware of the following: • Texas law does not permit the use of golf carts and UTV’s at this event.
