La Grange High School and Middle School Libraries will be hosting a book fair Monday, Nov. 28 through Dec. 2 at the high school library. Signs will be posted. Books for all ages available. Hours are 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Nov. 28 and 29; 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Nov. 30, 8 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Dec. 1; and 8 a.m until 1:30 Dec. 2. On Wednesday, Nov. 30, Santa will be visiting the library book fair and the La Grange High School Technology class will be taking free pictures with Santa. Bring your children that day from 4:45 until 6 p.m.

La Grange’s biggest Christmas festival, Schmeckenfest, returns for the 16th year this Thursday, Dec. 1, from 5-8 p.m.

As development increases in the rural areas of Fayette County, traffic on County roads comes with it. Many if not most of the country roads in Fayette County were laid out during a time when horses and mules and wagons were the common modes of transportation.

The new office space and public restrooms have been completed at Founders Park on the square in downtown La Grange, but officials have yet to work out the details on when the restrooms will be open. Fayette County owns the pocket park, which is located next to the County Clerk’s office at 252 West Colorado St.

A former candidate for Fayette County Judge raised concerns about the County’s building regulations at the Commissioners Court meeting last Wednesday, Nov. 23.
