Bake Sale

Mrs. Hoelscher and Mrs. Tousek’s La Grange Middle School 8th grade classes are having a bake sale in front of Brawley Dental in La Grange on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 8:30 a.m. until sold out. The bake sale will benefit the La Grange Optimist Club to help with sign up fees and equipment. Please come out and help our local youth.

Domino Tourney

The LaGrangeKCCommunity Center located at 190 S. Brown in La Grange will host a domino tournament Sunday, Feb. 26. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and play starts at 10 a.m. Prize will be awarded according to entries. Straight or 42 Round Robin play for $20 per team. A barbecue chicken dinner will be avilable for $10.

Local Author

Author Babette Fraser Hale will discuss her award winning collection of short stories, “A Wall of Bright Dead Feathers,” on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Round Top Family Library, located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top. This is a free program.

There’s more The Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/Dubina Farm Bureau will again award scholarships to seniors from area high schools. The scholarships can be used at any accredited university, college or vocational school. Scholarship applications can be obtained by contacting counselors at the schools. The requirement for this scholarship is parents and/or grandparents be members of the Swiss Alp/Ammannsville/Dubina Farm Bureau.

Historical Society Garage Sale

The annual Round Top Area Historical Society garage sale will be held this Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 397 E. Mill St. (behind the Round Top Post Office). Household items, glassware, furniture, antiques, linens, fabrics, pillows, books, record albums, lamps, and new merchandise added. Texas German Society

The Fayette County Chapter of Texas German Society will meet at Fayette Heritage Library and Archives on Monday, Feb. 27 at 3 p.m for their monthly meeting.Visitors are always welcome to attend.

CDA No. 1962 Meeting

CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum will be meeting on Monday, Feb. 27 in the Msgr. Harry Mazurkiewcz Center in La Grange at 6:30 p.m. This will also include a Lenten Reflection by State Spiritual Director Mary Lou Anderle. Members are encouraged to attend. New members are always welcome.

Fried Chicken Drive-Thru Meal

The Weimar Encore Lions Club will have a drive-thru fried chicken dinner meal on Wednesday, March 1 from 4-6:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Family Center in Weimar. Tickets are $12 and available from Hill Bank, M-G Farm Service Center and any Encore Lions Club Member. Desserts will be available for purchase.

Hermann Sons Meeting

Hermann Sons Life Rutersville will have their regular monthly meeting Wednesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. The meal will be chili and members are asked to bring a side or dessert for the meal.

Texas Independence Day Schedule La Grange city offices will be closed Thursday, March 2,

for Texas Independence Day. Waste Management will not have a holiday and will run their normal garbage schedule. If you need additional information, please call (979) 968-3127.

Keeping Marriages Healthy

A free one-day workshop to strengthen your marriage or set you up for a great future marraige will be held Saturday, March 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of La Grange, located at 5000 SH-71 W. This workshop is an excellent resource for anyone planning to marry, recently married, or even longmarried and wanting to become emotionally closer. PreSchool Story Time

Round Top Family Library will have weekly storytime for three and four year olds on Wednesdays from 10:15 until 11 a.m. in the library. Preschoolers will hear an age appropriate book and participate in activities such as art music or a game. Parent or guardian must be present. The library is located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top and is a free program.

Pork Steak Dinner

TheYouth Group of Holy Cross, Warda, will have a pork steak dinner on Sunday, March 12 at the Holy Cross Picnic grounds in Warda. Pick up from 10 a.m. until 12:30.p.m. Plates are togo only, and include pork steak, green beans, corn, and Wendish noodles. Presale only by March 1. Tickets are $15 each and may be purchased at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, La Grange Chevron, The Texas Wendish Heritage Museum, or reserve a plate and pay when you arrive by calling the church at (979) 242-3333. There will also be a bake sale with homemade items for a free will donation.
