The La Grange city pool had a successful opening day on Friday, June 2. Families and friends came to beat the heat and celebrate the start of summer. Above, children jump into the pool together hand in hand. Left: A teen throws a ball up to hit to his friend at the pool. Kids and senior admission is $1. Adults are $2. The pool is open 1-5 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The pool is located at Kruschel Park – 480 W. Colorado St.

Zilss Hall, located at the corner of Memorial Hall Road and FM 153 in Winchester, will be the site of the monthly Winchester Farmer’s Market this Saturday, June 3 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. If you would like to be a vendor, the cost is $10 for a space and you must bring your own table and chairs. You may register on site. For more information, contact Shanti Odom at (512) 913-9110.

Memorial Day Honored In LG With Ceremony

Memorial Day, formerly known as Decoration Day and first celebrated in 1868, was not officially declared a national holiday until 1971. At the Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home, a Memorial Day ceremony was held to recognize the service and dedication of Fayette County veterans.
