LGISD to Upgrade Network Infrastructure

La Grange ISD participates in the Universal Service Administration Company Schools and Libraries E-rate program. Because of this, the district is eligible to purchase network-related services at a reduced price. The E-rate discount this year is 85% which is an increase of 5% from last year. There are two categories that funds can be applied for. Category 1 provides for internet access for all district buildings. Category 2 provides network structure for student instructional areas.

Historic Round Top Photos Featured In RTAHS Time Capsule Exhibit

The Round Top Area Historical Society (RTAHS) will host a public open house and reception at its Jaehne Pavilion for an exhibit of historic photographs on Sunday, May 24 between 2-5 p.m. The exhibit will feature representative works from three early area photographers, namely Gustav Froelich, Friederike Recknagel and Robert Fulton Adams. The RTAHS campus is located immediately behind the U. S. Post Office at 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top.

Cernosek Family Reunion Celebrates Heritage, History in Ammannsville

It was a beautiful sunny spring day, April 18, at the KJT Hall in Ammannsville where the Cernosek Reunion was hosted by the Frank Cernosek Family. This was a time of reuniting for the relatives of lgnac and Maria Cernoch of Frenstat, Moravia. Five of their eight children migrated to America, arriving in the port of Galveston and settling in Bluff, Texas, now known as Hostyn.
Descendants of Ignac and Maria Cernoch gathered at the KJT Hall in Ammannsville on April 18 for the 2026 Cernosek Family Reunion, celebrating generations of heritage and family history.

1956 Graduates Compare Lives and Ponder Future

Celebrating as Superagers on April 25 at Sealand, fifteen La Grange High School classmates recalled their graduation of 70 years ago. They understand that their age group is no longer considered as those old folks who graduated in 1956.

Stanzel Family Foundation Opens Grant Applications to Support Local Organizations

The Stanzel Family Foundation (SFF) has opened its annual grant application process, offering funding opportunities for nonprofits and organizations serving the Schulenburg and Weimar communities. The Stanzel Family Foundation supports organizations advancing education and health, funding initiatives that align with its mission to strengthen and improve the well-being of local communities.

Correction

In a press release printed in Tuesday’s paper from the National Day of Prayer organization, there were two different dates listed for the Day of Prayer. It is observed on Thursday May 7.

Saturday is Election Day for City, School Races, Issues

Saturday is Election Day for city and school board elections throughout Fayette County. One of the most hotly debated issues in the area is in La Grange where the school district has put a $90 million bond proposition for facilities improvements before voters.
