Round Top Rifle Hall to Host Bethlehem Lutheran Fundraiser Sunday
Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be holding their annual fundraiser at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall on Sunday, May 3.
The public is invited to come out and enjoy a delicious fried chicken lunch. Each plate will include four pieces of fried chicken (breast, wing, drumstick, and thigh) with buttered noodles, green beans, and a pickle spear. Homemade desserts will be available both in the drive-through line and inside the hall for a freewill donation.
The meal will be served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and will be offered as dine in, carry out, or drive through. Meal tickets are $18 per plate. Advance sales of meal tickets are complete, but there are a limited number of extra plates that will be available that day. If you wish to reserve meal tickets through “will call,” call or text Jackie Sacks at (979) 966-7375. You can then pick up and pay for your tickets on the day of the event.
As part of their fundraiser, the church is also holding a raffle with over 35 prizes. Raffle tickets can still be purchased at the hall that Sunday, May 3, prior to the drawing which will take place around 12:30 p.m. Raffle tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50.
Everyone is invited to arrive early to attend the Sunday morning church service at 10 a.m. Pastor John David Nedbalek will be leading the service. The BLC Praise Team will be leading the music, which will include some lively polka tunes. If weather permits, the service will be held outdoors under the covered pavilion at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. In case of bad weather, the service will be held indoors inside the hall.
RT Area Historic Society
The Round Top Area Historical Society will host a public open house and reception at its Jaehne Pavilion on Sunday, May 24, from 2-4 p.m. for an exhibit of historic photos. The exhibit will feature representative work from three early area photographers: Gustav Froelich, Friederike Recknagel, and Robert Fulton Adam. The exhibit, which is titled “Round Top, Preserved Moments in Time…a Photographic Time Capsule” will celebrate the 250th birthday for the founding of the United States of America. The collection will feature over 50 restored and enhanced images spanning a 60-year period following the end of the American Civil War.
This exhibit will also honor military veterans who served during the Great War and World War II both in Europe and the Pacific. The focal point of the pavilion will be a 9’ x 5’ 48-star United States flag, which originally draped the coffin of one of the area’s WWII fallen heroes. The ceremonial flag will hang from the domed ceiling of the octagonshaped room. The Jaehne Pavilion is located at 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top.
RT-C ISD
A Career Fair was held at the RT-C High School on April 17. It was a wonderful opportunity for the students to learn about different career paths and connect with professionals in our community. The staff and students appreciate the amazing presenters who took the time to share their knowledge, experiences, and advice with the students. Presenters were Germania Insurance- Emily Baros; Bluebonnet Electric-Sherry Murphy and Linemen Cooper Luckert and Colton Burch; Baylor Scott & White Nurses-Keri Stewart and Sara Behnke; Trade and Leadership-Andria Smith; Entrepreneur-Jeremy Smith; and Geographic Information Systems-Sara Patin. Opportunities like this make a lasting impact on students and help inspire their futures.
The RT-C sophomores and juniors had the opportunity to take a meaningful and powerful field trip to the Holocaust Museum in Houston on April 23. The students were thankful to everyone who helped make this trip possible—from teachers and staff who organized and chaperoned, to those who supported behind the scenes. This experience gave the students a deeper understanding of history, compassion, and the importance of remembering the past.
