Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Wednesday, Dec. 6, around 1:55 p.m. Drug Interdiction Sgt. Randy Thumann and his Canine partner “Kolt” conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Ford truck pulling a white Utility trailer on I-10 E/B at the 671 mile marker for a traffic violation.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of Nov. 5-12.

Between 2,000 and 2,200 folks descended on downtown La Grange for Schmeckenfest Thursday to celebrate the Christmas season according La Grange Main Street Manager Caleb Parks.

Beautiful weather helped fuel the big crowds, and some civic groups said they had record fundraising food sales during the event.

The night started with a parade led by the La Grange High School marching band with Santa and Mrs. Claus riding into town on a fire truck before visiting with kids.

Local groups hosted a number of activities from s’more-making to German dancing.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court met Wednesday, Dec. 6, to select and prioritize several projects for the County’s $4.8 million grant application to the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Regional Mitigation Program.

As of Dec. 1, the total intake for the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter is 1508: 696 dogs and 812 cats in need. As of Dec. 1, the shelter has 82 animals in care: 37 dogs/45 cats. This number includes animals in the facility, in foster care for medical, waiting on available space, or awaiting transport to rescue partner.
