Frankie was assistant chief of the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department on March 8, 2000, when a massive fire destroyed four businesses in downtown La Grange. When huge flames and smoke billowed from the Old Lester Hotel on West Colorado Street, every volunteer fire department in Fayette County, plus Weimar, was on the scene providing mutual aid, as well as a Fayette Electric Cooperative bucket truck.

St. Mark’s Building and Equipment: What Happens Next?

After the doors are locked and the lights turned off upon the official closure of St. Mark’s hospital Thursday, what happens next? A complicated default process would then occur for the physical building and equipment of the hospital, which is closing after 18 years because of steep financial losses.

Von Minden Named National Merit Commended Student

La Grange High School Principal John Pineda has announced that Landon Von Minden has been named a Commended Student in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, was presented by the principal to this scholastically talented senior.
