Halloween Fun Starts Early Here

Halloween is this Tuesday and is predicted to be one of the coldest ever locally with temperatures barely climbing out of the 40s. The annual trick-or-treat on the square in La Grange is Tuesday Oct. 31 from 4-6 p.m. And while that day may not the best trick-ortreating weather, local kids have had lot of opportunities for Halloween fun leading up to Oct. 31.

La Grange ISD held a trunk-or-treat hosted by local businesses and non-profits set up in the elementary parking lot with an adjacent Halloween carnival full of games run by teachers. The event drew hundreds.

Battery Project Hearing Oct. 26

Fayette County Commissioners Court will consider a property tax abatement proposal for an electric grid battery storage project. The Commissioners Court set a public hearing for Oct.

A fire Wednesday night resulted in a mobile home fire at 5526 Wied Road, which will likely leave the structure as a total loss. La Grange Fire Chief Frank Menefee said the fire started on the porch of the home, possibly sparked by an outside candle, but they are still investigating. Authorities were contacted at 6:16 p.m. Wednesday and the La Grange fire department arrived with 11 fire fighters and the Fayetteville Fire Department also responded. There we no injuries and firefighters left the scene at 9:06 p.m.
