Rutersville

The next regular meetings of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 1, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at their facilities located at 1503 N. State Hwy. 237 in Round Top.

Cemetery Meeting

Tech Training

Join the Fayette Public Library in La Grange for Adult Technology Training on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 a.m. to noon. All computer questions are welcome. No one is born knowing this stuff. If your computer is giving you problems, bring it along. Eight seats are available. Registration is required. Call (979) 968-3765 to sign up.

There’s more A workshop on herbicide usage in prairie/savanna restoration is being offered Feb. 2 by the Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairies Association of Texas. The workshop will be held at Casino Hall in La Grange from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The workshop is intended for those already using herbicides in prairie/savanna restoration and wishing to learn more about their effective and safe use, as well as for those not doing restoration because herbicides are involved, but who are open to learning more about herbicides. Workshop topics include herbicide mode of action and efficacy, toxicology, Texas laws/regulations, rangeland application, and management decision-making, presented by experts from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Texas Department of Agriculture, and Texas Parks and Wildlife. Registration is $35/person including lunch and tickets may be purchased at https://texasprairie.org/event/herbicide-workshop.

Sealy Lions Dance Club

The Sealy Lions Dance Club dance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Sealy American Legion Hall. Scott Wilkinson and EZ Country will be providing live music from 7:30 to 11 p.m. The public is welcome.

Beekeepers Association Meeting

The Fayette County Beekeepers Association (FaycoBeeks) will have their next meeting on Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Fayette County Agriculture Building in La Grange, 255 Svoboda Ln. For anyone interested in beekeeping, there will be a Beekeeping 101 presentation starting at 4:30 p.m. and it will be a great opportunity to meet up with experienced beekeepers who can serve as mentors and advisors. A potluck dinner and barbecue will follow, guests are welcome to bring their favorite sides/desserts. Afterwards, there will be a business meeting, an open discussion on bee-things, and a guest presentation. Membership dues for 2024 are $25/year, individual or family. Membership is not required to attend the meeting, FaycoBeeks welcomes all new members and especially encourages young beekeepers and their families to join. Bunco Sponsored by CDA No. 1962 Bunco sponsored by CDA Court Annunciation No. 1962, La Grange, will be held Sunday, Feb. 4 at the KC Hall in La Grange. Registration begins at 2 p.m. and Bunco begins at 3 p.m. Tickets are $35. Contact Shirley Antosh (KJT Office 979-968-5877) or Mary Lou Anderle for tickets. Prizes will be awarded and light refreshments will be served with a cash bar available.

Haw Creek Cemetery Meeting The Haw Creek Cemetery meeting will be held Sunday, Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. at the home of Reese and Darla Schmidt located at 3107 FM 954 in Fayetteville.

All Sports Booster Club

The La Grange All Sports Booster Club meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 5. The meeting is at the La Grange High School Library at 5:30 pm.

Industry KC Fried Chicken Fundraiser The Industry Knights of Columbus Msgr. Edward Geiser Council No. 10224 will hold their annual fried chicken fundraiser on Sunday, Feb. 11 at Industry Fireman’s Hall. $12 donation for the meal. Meal includes hand breaded fried chicken (1/2 chicken), homemade buttered noodles, and green beans. The meal will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Dine in or plates to go will be available. Other activities include a silent auction, live auction at 12:30 p.m. and prize drawing after the live auction. The Knights of Columbus is a non-profit fraternal benefit society benefiting church, youth, and community.
