A class teaching the use of Top Bar Bee Hives is being offered on March 2 at the 14th Annual Beginners Beekeeping School in Brenham. Top Bar Bee Hives are an alternate home for managing bees.

$60,000 in Cash Found in Speaker Boxes in I-10

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Wednesday around noon Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffic stop on I-10 on a 2015 white Ford truck for traffic violations. After conversation with the driver Smith was given consent to search the vehicle. Smith located large speaker’s boxes under the rear seat of the truck. Smith conducted a search with an X-ray scanner and observed bundles of cash hidden in the speakers. Assisting Smith on the scene was Drug Interdiction Sgt. Randy Thumann and his canine “Kolt”, and Deputy Herman Olvera. Arrested was 24 yr.
