Fertilizer Rig Flips
A crash at Hwy. 90 and Interstate 10 between Schulenburg and Weimar highlighted the danger at that intersection last week.
The wreck happened at 10:43 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8. Andre Lavar McMillian, 38 of Weimar, was driving east on US 90 in a white 2015 Ford F-250 pickup owned by M-G, Inc. of Weimar. He was pulling a fertilizer rig, also owned by M-G. Dewayne Ray Freeman, 59 of League City, was driving a black 2016 Ford F-250 pickup west on the Interstate 10 frontage road.
A crash report by Trooper Darnell Thomas of the Texas Highway Patrol said Freeman failed to yield at the stop sign. McMillian’s pickup struck Freeman’s truck as he entered the intersection. The fertilizer rig turned over on its side. Both vehicles came to rest on all four wheels.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Air bags deployed in Freeman’s pickup. Neither driver was injured, and there were no passengers involved.
Trooper Thomas issued Freeman a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
