Memorial Service Held at Pitman Cemetery

Memorial Service Held at Pitman Cemetery

The first Sunday in May is always the Memorial Service at Pitman Cemetery which in the past has been a time of reconnection and gathering for family and friends from all around. This year the rain and stormy weather hindered many and the crowd was slim. Everyone who was able to attend enjoyed catching up with each other. If you missed this year go ahead and mark your calendar for the first Sunday in May next year and come out.

Martin Cherry. Jr. led the service with Don Kirby bringing the music on the old piano. The group may have been small, but it was a very nice service with a reminder of all those loved ones who are laid to rest amongst the headstones that surrounded the old chapel.

If you would like a history lesson, just take a walk in the Pitman Cemetery. It is a historical cemetery with all kinds buried within its boundaries. Everything from Confederate soldiers to slave graves are scattered throughout.

Rain

Muldoon saw some strong storms blow through on the first Saturday night in May with rainfalls of anywhere from 0.60 in. to over an inch of rain falling in the area. The rain brought cooler temperatures before the humidity set in and made it very muggy at times. Temperatures ran up into the nineties making it feel hot and heavy.

The recent rains have made the grasses grow along with the gardens in the area. Zucchini has really taken off and other garden crops are really enjoying this wonderful rainfall.

Traffic

Muldoon has seen a dramatic drop in traffic with the completion of the solar farm. Things have slowed down and there are a lot less cars moving around. There has been a increase in wildlife. With the end of May coming up also means that school will be ending for the summer and things on the roadways will once again fall into a summer pattern. Please watch out for kids while traveling in the area as they start to get out and about for summer activities.

Little Lending Library

As summer is approaching do not forget to check out the Little Lending Library beside the fire station to grab some summer reading material. The selection is always changing, so check it out and see what is available.

Out and About

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer were happy to have their son Reed Rightmer came in from Houston for a few days. Reed helped out around the place and got to relax and enjoy his mom’s cooking.

Debra and John Schwartzenburg enjoyed a visit from Debra’s sister Julia Speed and her son in law Jason Guerrero and granddaughter Juliana Guerrero. They had a very productive weekend pulling up mesquite trees and Juliana had a blast riding in the cab with her grandmother shredding weeds.

Church News
