LG’s Largest Day Care Closing

The Remnant Academy (TRA) day care in La Grange announced that it will close at the end of May. TRA manager Leticia Fonville informed parents of the decision last Friday, March 8.

State Grant to Bump Up Rural Officer Pay

The Fayette County Commissioners Court met last Thursday and signed a grant agreement with the Texas Comptroller’s Office for the Rural Law Enforcement Salary Assistance Program. The Texas Legislature implemented this grant program with Senate Bill 22.

Ancient Journal of La Grange Pioneer Discovered on EBAY

The Faison Preservation Society is excited to announce the discovery of a leatherbound 1867 pocket journal owned by N.W. Faison. The document contains notes about Faison’s business dealings, including personal loans and shopping lists. In the back of the book is a notation: If you find this, please return to N.W. Faison, La Grange, Texas.

Local Royalty Rides in Houston Parade

Fayette County Fair Royalty took on Rodeo Houston partnering with Fayette Co Go Texan and were riders in the Grand Entry Rodeo Parade for Fayette County day at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Participating in the Houston event included (L to R): Queen 2nd Runner Up Andrea Ortiz, Jr Miss Annabella DelaRosa, Little Miss Reagan Arlund, Queen 1st Runner Up Camryn Alvarado, Little Mister Branson Moerbe and Queen Harper Henneke. Pageant Chairman Shannon Hemmitt, Pageant Committee Member Brenna Davis and families of the court were also in attendance for the day in the Bajou City. Members of the court considered the event a once in a lifetime opportunity. They spent the day on the grounds with their sashes and crowns on and meeting rodeo goers from across the state. If you or someone you know wants to join the fun as part of the Fayette County Fair Court, consider running as recruitment for Queen and Jr Miss contestants for our 2024 fair begins May 6.

Lunch-N-Learn Series Continues March 12

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn educational program is a series of nine informational meetings designed to provide gardening or general landscaping information for homeowners. Fayette County Master Gardeners plan and present a variety of programs from experts in the area and across the state. This series is designed with the homeowner in mind. Bring your lunch and learn about a variety of topics that help you have a more productive garden, prettier flower beds, or how to better understand your landscape ecosystems.
