A crash on Interstate 10 west of Schulenburg on Father’s Day left one man dead and three people in the hospital.

Texas Department of Transportation investigated the crash, but details were not available in time for this publication.

The crash happened around 6:46 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, in the westbound lanes of Interstate 10 near mile marker 671, about halfway between Schulenburg and Engle. Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department and Fayette County EMS responded to the scene, along with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Schulenburg Police. Colorado County EMS also sent an ambulance to assist.

Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever reported that the male driver died in the crash. Three people were injured, at least two of whom were reportedly grandchildren of the man who died. They were taken by ambulance to trauma centers in Austin, Vandever said.

The crash blocked the westbound lanes for approximately two hours.
