Fayette County Animal Control Officer Dean Ahlschlager got rear-ended in an auto accident Wednesday, July 24. The crash happened shortly before 10 a.m.

Just about everywhere you look around La Grange lately you’ll find heavy equipment, detours, warning signs, concrete trucks and construction workers. Contractors with the Texas Department of Transportation have been busy working on the US 77 widening project north of La Grange. Eventually, the highway will become four lanes from La Grange to the Lee County Line.

La Grange Firefighters put their rescue tools to good use on Monday, July 22. They had to cut apart two vehicles to extract the drivers after a pair of rollovers on US 77.

La Grange City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance to allow alcohol distilling in the historic downtown square Monday night, July 24. The ordinance will allow La Grange Distilling Co.

At Monday’s La Grange City Council meeting, City Manager Jack Thompson floated the idea of a new special property tax to pay for maintenance of the City Cemetery. Thompson brought up the idea during a preliminary discussion about next year’s City budget.
