Just about everywhere you look around La Grange lately you’ll find heavy equipment, detours, warning signs, concrete trucks and construction workers. Contractors with the Texas Department of Transportation have been busy working on the US 77 widening project north of La Grange. Eventually, the highway will become four lanes from La Grange to the Lee County Line.

At Monday’s La Grange City Council meeting, City Manager Jack Thompson floated the idea of a new special property tax to pay for maintenance of the City Cemetery. Thompson brought up the idea during a preliminary discussion about next year’s City budget.
