La Grange Firefighters put their rescue tools to good use on Monday, July 22. They had to cut apart two vehicles to extract the drivers after a pair of rollovers on US 77.

The first wreck happened around 10 a.m. near Rabbs Prairie Rd. north of La Grange. A Dodge pickup truck heading south hit the guardrail at a curve in the road and rolled on its side.

Firefighters cut the roof off the cab to reach the driver. Fayette County EMS loaded her on a stretcher and an ambulance transported her for hospital treatment. Fayette County EMS Director Josh Vandever said her injuries were not life-threatening.

Then around 4 p.m., another Dodge pickup truck rolled over south of La Grange near Janda Ln. The pickup was heading north on US 77 and ran off the right side of the roadway. The pickup hit a culvert, went airborne and struck a cedar tree before coming to rest on the drivers side. Trooper L.A. Gabler with the Texas Highway Patrol investigated the wreck. Gabler said the driver may have suffered a medical emergency, which caused her to lose control.

La Grange Firefighers again employed their extraction tools to cut the roof off the cab. Fayette County EMS transported the driver for hospital treatment. Her injuries were not life-threatening.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control at both wreck scenes.
