Be Prepared to Stop: A City Under Construction
Just about everywhere you look around La Grange lately you’ll find heavy equipment, detours, warning signs, concrete trucks and construction workers. Contractors with the Texas Department of Transportation have been busy working on the US 77 widening project north of La Grange. Eventually, the highway will become four lanes from La Grange to the Lee County Line.
Another crew is working on drainage improvements along SH 159 from La Grange to just past Rutersville. They installed new culverts under the creek bridges, and now they’re rebuilding the roadway between Rutersville and FM 2981.
A different crew of contractors recently completed sidewalk and curb concrete work for the intersection widening project at Travis St. and Jefferson St. in La Grange.
In addition, workers are framing up the new Bread Basket Store and Market at US 77 and SH 71 Bypass on the north side of La Grange.
