FCF Community Impact Grant Open Until June 30

The Fayette Community Foundation (FCF) is now accepting applications for the 2024 Community Impact Grant Cycle with a deadline of June 30. All registered nonprofits serving up to 80 miles outside of La Grange are encouraged to apply. FCF will consider any program that enriches the lives of its citizens; however, priority will be given to programs focused on Mental Health and Workforce Development and Education.

ACCSS, BRIDGE Offering Summer Educational Program

Summer programs are designed to ease the transition to college and support postsecondary success by providing students with the academic skills and social resources needed to succeed in a college environment. These same skills can prepare high school students for not only success in high school academics, but for participating in dual credit while they are in high school.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports early Thursday morning, June 6, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a structure fire on Hackemack Rd. near Kneip Rd. in the Round Top area.

Road Closure on FM 154

Texas Department of Transportation plans to replace a bridge on FM 154 at Pin Oak Creek. The highway will be closed for approximately four months. The road closure will take place in between SH 95 and FM 2237. Local traffic will still have access to FM 154.

Trevway, INC was awarded the contract with a bid of $1.6 million dollars. The project duration is approximately four months (weather permitting).

Living a Healthy Life With Chronic Conditions Series Begins August 1

A six-week series, “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions-Getting Your Life Back” is being offered for free through the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Fayette County. The sessions will be every Thursday starting Aug. 1 through Sept. 5 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the Schulenburg Public Library meeting Room, 310 Simpson Street in Schulenburg.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Wednesday, June 5, the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in Praha. The unit had received complaints in reference to narcotics trafficking from this particular residence.

Sheriff Keith Korenek reports early Friday afternoon around 4:46 p.m. the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a hay baler, round bales, and a hay meadow fire on Baron Rd. off St. Hwy 159 in the Fayetteville area.
