Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the first week of June 16-22. Accident On June 16, Officer M D Krenek met with complainant at the police station regarding his daughter’s pickup being struck while she was at work.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports that on July 31 at approximately 1:10 a.m., Deputy Cody Williams conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Interstate 10 east of Flatonia for a traffic infraction.

Court Hears Bypass Opposition

The Bluff bypass debate headed to Commissioners Court last week. Three citizens spoke during the public comment period at last Thursday’s meeting about the plans for a new Highway 77 route to avoid the steep, curvy segment of the highway just south of La Grange.

Readers’ Choice School Winners

As you may have noticed, in our Fayette County Record Readers’ Choice magazine last week, school personnel winners were not included. We are waiting until teachers come back from summer break to announce those winners to the school districts so they may make those presentations in person at the schools. Afterwards, all those winners (and hopefully pictures of the winning school personnel) will be included in the newspaper.
