Start Applying July 1 LCRA’s Board of Directors has made $100,000 grants a standing feature of LCRA’s Community Grants program, adding one to each of the two annual grant cycles beginning this July. Apply Starting July 1 Applications for the next cycle will be available at lcra.org/grants beginning July 1 and are due by midnight July 31.

The Texas Municipal Human Resources Association (TMHRA) proudly announces the successful completion of its second cohort of the Texas Municipal Human Resources Certification Program by a distinguished group of HR professionals serving in municipal government across the state. Allison Hollek, from the City of La Grange, and Jacqueline Ott, from the City of Flatonia are two of 63 HR Professionals in the State to obtain this distinguished Certification.

Our warm and welcoming activity centers are a beacon for Seniors to gather over a hot cup of coffee, a rowdy game of dominoes or sequence, or many other games, and good company. The day gets better with home-cooked, nutritious meals, educational programs, bingo, and much more. We serve anyone who is 55 years or older. Membership is free, and the food is fine.

Round Top Family Library is excited to kick off their kids’ summer enrichment programming on June 8. Session 1 classes include Cooking Club (K-3rd Grade), Gardening Club (K-3rd Grade), Art & Literacy (K-3rd Grade), Gardening (4th-6th Grade), and Animal Science (4th-6th Grade). Limited spots are still available in select classes, so please check the website for current availability and registration information. They look forward to welcoming students for a summer of hands-on learning, creativity, and exploration.

Fayette County 4-H members competed in the District 11 4-H Livestock Judging Contest on Saturday, May 2 in College Station. They won the District 11 4-H Sweepstakes the past four years.

The Fayette Prairie Chapter of the Native Prairie Association of Texas (NPAT) received one of the 2026 Lone Star Land Steward Awards from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at an award ceremony held in Austin on May 14. This prestigious award honors landowners, organizations, and community groups across Texas that demonstrate exceptional commitment to land conservation, sustainable land use, and environmental stewardship. Past honorees in the local area include Mark and Cheryl Brown of Ammannsville and Gary and Dianna Kocurek of Weimar. Angelo State University conferred 901 undergraduate and graduate degrees on 891 graduates, including Hunter Schulz of Schulenburg, during the 2026 Spring commencement exercises on May 15, at the Junell Center/Stephens Arena in San Angelo.
