Buckner’s Creek Wildlife Management Association is proud to announce the two recipients for this year’s scholarships: Logan Buchta and Jacob Bridgefarmer. Logan Buchta is the greatgrandson of the late Ross and Marie Ivy and grandson of Gerald and Elaine Buchta.

Angelo State University in San Angelo has announced students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2026 spring semester, including Kobi Valchar of Schulenburg. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Lunch-N-Learn educational program is a series of nine informational meetings designed to provide gardening or general landscaping for homeowners. Fayette County Master Gardeners plan and present a variety of information from experts in the area and across the state.

Sam Wilson gave a presentation to the La Grange Rotary Club last week about a classic car restoration program he hope to launch this fall that will provide local students with career pathways. Wilson founded the nonprofit organization Tach-Tech3 Foundation.

The Fayette County Commissioners Court narrowly approved an unusual property division at their meeting last Thursday, May 28. The vote was 3-2. It involved tracts in Winchester that are smaller than the County’s two-acre minimum requirement.

How exciting to learn several years ago when I was reviewing the Revolutionary Soldiers that were buried in Texas to find one in Fayette County. One of the objectives of the Daughters of the American Revolution is to protect historical locations and erect monuments to preserve American history for future generations.

The Lower Colorado River Authority Board of Directors has selected Rudy D. Garza as LCRA’s 12th general manager, effective July 20. A Texas native with 30 years of utility leadership experience, Garza joins LCRA from CPS Energy in San Antonio, where he currently serves as president and CEO.
