Senior Connections Offers A Full Week of Activities for Area Seniors
Our warm and welcoming activity centers are a beacon for Seniors to gather over a hot cup of coffee, a rowdy game of dominoes or sequence, or many other games, and good company. The day gets better with home-cooked, nutritious meals, educational programs, bingo, and much more. We serve anyone who is 55 years or older. Membership is free, and the food is fine.
Let’s look at our schedule for the week of June 8-13.
On Monday, June 8, doors open at 9 a.m. and the fun continues until 2 p.m. at 1111 Bohlmann Ave., Schulenburg. Menu for the day will include baked chicken and squash casserole with our house salad and desserts by members. Connie Koopmann and Koopmann Catering are providing the main course. Following the meal, Jim and Elena Pate have returned from Alaska and will serenade us with their lovely music. Do you have an instrument? Bring it and play along. At 12:45 p.m., Labrittany with True Care Living in Columbus will be in the house to call the bingo game.
One Tuesday, June 9, Senior Connections meets in Flatonia, 403 E. North Main St., in Newman Hall at Flatonia Methodist Church. Seniors love being in Newman Hall, surrounded by all the beautiful windows. The meal for the day includes barbecue wings, coleslaw, and mac and cheese by Amanda. Loyal members will provide desserts. At noon, members will enjoy music by local artists Jaime Steinhauser and Daryl O’Brien. Bingo will start a little bit later and will be brought to you by Haley with Crown Hospice.
On Wednesday, June 10, find us back in Schulenburg, and the meal of the day was one of my son’s favorites. Members will enjoy tater tot casserole from Koopmann Catering, paired with our famous house salad, garlic bread, and dessert. Chyla from Wellsential Health in Hallettsville will be in the house to call the bingo game.
The Senior Connections board meeting will be held on June 11.
On June 12, Artful Friday continues at Senior Connec-tions at 1111 Bohlmann Ave. Classes are held at Senior Connections in Schulenburg in June and July, and will continue with Jaime Janda’s painting without paintbrushes class and Sheryl Tumis’s crochet class. A light lunch is served after classes. These classes must be registered for in advance because space is limited. Participants can bring projects to finish after lunch in preparation for the upcoming art show, Ageless Artistry.
On June 13, you can find Senior Connections at the Flatonia Farmers Market with a booth to bring awareness of our programs, and also in La Grange at the First United Methodist Church for their LiveSmart Health Expo. Visit us at either one.
