Oct. 8, 1974 Four Houston men found out the hard way that Saturday night was the wrong time and a pasture full of registered cattle on the Cullen Ranch between Columbus and Ellinger was the wrong place to hunt deer.

Genealogy Workshop Coming Up on Oct. 18

In celebration of October as Family History Month, the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives in La Grange will again join the Genealogy Network of Texas (GNT) for a series of eight streamed genealogy programs on Friday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The GNT is a statewide initiative to connect libraries and provide educational and research opportunities and is spearheaded by the Genealogy Center of the Waco-McLennan County Library.

The Methodist Men of New Life Methodist Church, La Grange, will once again be serving their great barbecue plates, sandwiches, wraps, salads, baked potatoes, and peach cobbler at the Blue Hills Antique Show in Round Top Oct. 5-19 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Knesek Building Rises Again

Fred Roberts led a group from the morning coffee club in Fayetteville on a tour to see the rebuilding of the Knesek building on Fayetteville’s Square, which is Phase I of the Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater project. Knesek Building Rises Again

Farm Bureau Meets

Flatonia/ Cistern Farm Bureau President Danny Vyvjala presented a gift card to Marcus Zarosky, Fayette County Farm BureauAgency Manager, who was the guest speaker at the Flatonia/Cistern Farm Bureau quarterly meeting on Tuesday Sept. 17 at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia.

Zarosky’s presentation at the meeting was very informative. He reported that the Farm Bureau just won their 12th consecutive J. D. Power award for customer service and trust. A delicious stew dinner was enjoyed by everyone.
