Feed The Need
BBQ & Bake Sale
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a BBQ and the Women will hold a bake sale Saturday, Dec. 14 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the La Grange High School Band.
Muldoon Christmas
Mark your calendar for Christmas in Muldoon on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Muldoon Museum will be open from 4:30-6 p.m. Mrs. Claus will be visiting and speaking with the children. There will be some baked goods available for sale with proceeds going to the operation of the museum. Starting at 5 p.m., the Stray Gathering Cowboy Church will be open for children’s crafts. Can goods can be left at the museum which will be accepted for the Flatonia Area Food Pantry.
Christmas Caroling
The Shelby Area Historical Society will host Old Time Christmas Caroling on Sunday, Dec. 15 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Bring a flashlight, a blanket for cold weather, and refreshments to share. Meet in the church building on Skull Creek Road, Shelby.
There’s more A free Christmas Cantata, “Suddenly, Light,” by the combined choirs and instrumentalists of New Life Methodist and St. James’ Episcopal churches with readings and anthems recounting the Gospels from the point of view of Joseph’s mother will have two showing opportunities: Sunday, Dec. 15 at 9 a.m. at New Life Methodist, 1215 N Von Minden, and 3 p.m. at St. James’ Episcopal,156 N. Monroe St. in La Grange.
Ellinger Hermann Sons Life
The Ellinger Hermann Sons Life will be meeting on Monday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. at the Ellinger Fire Station.
VFW Post No. 5254, Auxiliary Party
La Grange Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254 and Auxiliary members, along with their spouse and immediate family or guest, are invited to the annual Christmas party on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the VFW Post Home. The social begins at 5 p.m. followed by a catered meal at 6 p.m. The program will include presentation of the VFW sponsored Voice of Democracy and Patriots Pen winners. There will be a “fun” fundraiser to support the youth programs of the VFW Auxiliary.
Farm Bureau Christmas Party
The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau local will hold their Christmas party at the Swiss Alp-Ammannsville-Dubina Farm Bureau hall. It will be held on Dec. 17 and will start at 6:30 p.m. A potluck meal is being planned, so each family is asked to bring a covered dish and a small dessert.All members are welcome.
Vietnam Veterans Of America Dinner The Vietnam Veterans Chapter No. 870 Christmas Social/ Dinner will be held on Dec. 18, at the Ammannsvile KJT Hall in lieu of normal monthly meeting. Social hour to start at 6 p.m. with a barbecue brisket dinner at 7 p.m. All Members and spouses are invited. All attendees are urged to bring non-perishable food items for future distribution to area Food Banks.
Family Movie Night at Library
Mark your calendars for a Christmas Family Movie Night at the Library. Join them for this wonderful Christmas event on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 5:30-8 p.m. The event will kick off at 5:30 p.m. outside, and the movie will start at 6 p.m. in the library meeting room. The featured movie is The Polar Express, rated G and with a run time of 1 hour and 40 minutes. Popcorn and hot chocolate will be provided with a special take-home surprise for the movie. Due to limited space, the movie is registration only with 40 available spots. Library programs are free and open to the public. The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran church on Saturday, Dec. 21. Drive through only from 10-11 a.m.Volunteers are always appreciated.
St. James Christmas Celebration Service St. James United Methodist Church located at 710 N. Jackson St. in La Grange will hold a Christmas Celebration Service on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Willie Mae Williams, Pastor. The community is invited to attend.

Proper Flag Disposal Drop Off Locations The Texas Heroes Museum located at 171 S. Main in La Grange accepts old flags for proper disposal. The drop-off bin is inside the museum which is open 1-4 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sunday. If leaving flags outside the door when the museum is closed, please have them in a plastic bag or a box so that they are not laying on the ground.
Kids Garden Class
The Round Top Family Library will hold a Junior Master Gardener Kids Garden Class with teaching team Suzanne Ellis, Terri Russell, and Lou Ann Philips.
