Schulenburg Police Chief Troy Brenek reports on the following incidents his department responded to during the week of June 15-20. Assault On June 16, Officer Jeffrey Whited was dispatched to the 500 block of West Avenue to Paradigm of the Oaks Facility regarding an assault that took place between two elderly residents.

Winchester Donates to Flooding Victims

W The Center Point Volunteer Fire Department has lost all its equipment in the flooding in the Texas Hill Country of the last few weeks. The Winchester Area Volunteer Fire Department will be sending Center Point a donation of $5,000 in their efforts to restore their station.

Fayette County Opry to Have Patsy Cline Tribute on July 21

The Fayette County Country Music Club will host their monthly Opry on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in La Grange, Texas. This show will be a tribute to the late and great Patsy Cline with Lisa Layne. The show starts at 7 p.m.. and the doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Admission is $8.

Twins Born to Cummins Family

Jason and Brooke Cummins of Hallettsville are thrilled and blessed to announce the birth of their twins, a boy and a girl, on Sunday, May 25, 2025. Mason Cole was born at 8:19 a.m. and weighed 6lbs. 6oz. and was 18-1/2” in length. Madison Jade was born at 8:21 a.m. and weighed 6lbs. 3oz. and was 18-1/4” in length.

Neighbors Claim School Construction Swamping Their Homes

Some neighbors around the Flatonia ISD campus say school construction projects in recent years have redirected storm runoff onto their properties. Jay Kirtley, who owns a historic home north of the school, said the stormwater is slowly destroying his property.

‘Bold Investment in Future of La Grange’ Finalized

A new chapter in arts and culture is coming to La Grange. The La Grange Economic Development Corporation (LGEDC) and the Fayette County Community Theatre (FCCT) are thrilled to announce plans to renovate 253 West Travis Street into a performing arts theater in the heart of downtown La Grange.

Trump Burger Chain Embroiled in Lawsuits

Cease and Desist Letter Sent to Local Restaurants by Trump Organization, One Owner Faces Immigration Hearing One of the people behind the Trump Burger restaurants in Flatonia and Kemah might get his green card revoked, according to documents obtained by the Record this week. Roland Beainy, who reportedly grew up in Lebanon and moved to the United States in 2019, alleges in a lawsuit that he owns 50 percent of the business Trump Burger LLC.
