Following Gov. Greg Abbott’s recent executive order on the phased reopening of the state of Texas, the Diocese of Austin, under the leadership of Bishop Joe S. Vásquez, notified parishes today they may resume the public celebration of Mass on May 5. As they open, Bishop Vásquez has asked parishes to follow protocols that are consistent with the governor’s and attorney general’s recommendations.

The Fayette Public Library, Museum & Archives will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 12. The process of reopening will occur slowly and start with limited hours for essential services. The new hours of operation for the library will be Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. Fayette County Judge Joe Weber says Fayette County is lagging behind the state average for registering for the census and urges locals to register.
