Library to Reopen May 12

The Fayette Public Library, Museum & Archives will reopen to the public on Tuesday, May 12. The process of reopening will occur slowly and start with limited hours for essential services. The new hours of operation for the library will be Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library will be closed on Sundays and Mondays. The Museum & Archives will operate by appointment only. Appointments can be made by calling (979) 968-3765 or e-mailing archives@cityoflg.com.

Patrons will be able to check out materials and use four public computers. All computers will have a time limit of one hour and are to be used for essential tasks such as filing for assistance, job searches, schoolwork, completing the Census, checking e-mail, and other related activities. The amount of people in the building will be limited and it is highly encouraged that patrons wear masks while they visit. Social distancing guidelines will be enforced. The library will not offer any programs at this time and unaccompanied minors cannot be dropped off. The library asks that people please do not donate books and other materials until further notice.

The stages of reopening will be fluid and constantly evaluated. The safety of patrons and staff are the top factor in determining when other services will be offered. At this time, we will continue to offer curbside pickup of library materials for patrons that wish to limit contact. Materials will not incur late fees.
